Wind Tunnel Visualisations
Lookdev & Design
Working on the Apple film F1:The Movie with Simon Staines and Blind, I was tasked with the look development for the screens in the wind tunnel and aerodynamics scenes.Visual Research
The graphics for these elements needed to show how air interacts with the car components and so were grounded in research and based on existing simulation systems, CAD programs and CFD software.Motion Design
Once the look-and-feel had been established, I began working across the two separate sequences to develop the way the aerodynamic visuals were animated. -
Storytelling
The animations needed to convey the scripted story beats, and as they were played back live they also provided lighting within the scenes.
Race Graphics
Other deliverables I was involved with throughout the film included the animation of race graphics on the Apex Pit Wall displays. These screens are key for making key strategy decisions and performance monitoring of the car. They displayed data such as track maps with driver positions, track times, telemetry and race day weather maps. -
